Announcing the Carnival of Green Living Blog Carnival

I know many of our regular readers are also bloggers. In fact, one of the best parts of running this blog is getting to meet the other bloggers (even if only over e-mail and comments) and to see some of the great work they’re doing to promote awareness of the environment.

So, to help promote them and build closer relationships between our blog and theirs, we’ve decided to host a twice-monthly ‘Blog Carnival’.

A Blog Carnival, for those who don’t know, is where a group of bloggers all submit their best posts to be showcased. It gives readers an opportunity to be introduced to blogs they may never have known about — and it gives bloggers a chance to get new readers.

And from our perspective, hosting a blog carnival is a chance to say ‘thank you’ to the other environmental bloggers that have become our regular readers.

So, here are the details. The Carnival of Green Living blog carnival will be hosted here twice a month. We’re asking for submissions to be in by the end of the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month – and we’ll be posting them all the following Wednesday.

Here is the sign-up page on the site. I’d appreciate people signing up there to make it easier to keep track of — but to be honest you could also just e-mail me directly as well (kbedell AT gmail DOT com).

The first one will be posted next Wednesday, August 8th. Please try to submit your entries by Sunday — or send me an e-mail asking me to reserve you a spot.

We already have several great posts that I can’t wait to share from some people who signed up through before this announcement. I think we’re going to see some great content, so please make sure you submit your best work.

See you then and thanks again for reading!

  1. Good question – thanks for asking.

The main thing is that the particular post we feature in the carnival should be of interest to our readers — meaning it should have a focus on one of our core areas of interest: the environment, local food supplies, global warming, reduce/recycle/reuse, etc.

If you run a site that’s focused on pets, for example, you could propose a post from your site on pet foods, supplies or care products that are environmentally friendly, for example.

A website focussed on blogging might focus on finding hosting providers that make an effort to be carbon neutral by buying green energy.

No matter what the focus of your site (except maybe porn or gambling… ;-) ) there is likely an angle that is important to our readership.

    Thanks for asking!
